Introducing the Heathens... ummm, our Children

At the husband's suggestion, today, we are going to introduce our heathens, I mean children. Many years ago, when the oldest was just a toddler, we began referring to the children as heathens. We had hopes that one day they would be civilized, but it hadn't happened yet. The name stuck. Even now when we are well on the way to civilization (at least with the bigs), we refer to them lovingly as our heathens.

With six children with a loss in the middle, we have what I refer to as our bigs and our littles. The bigs are 14, 12, and 10 respectively. The littles are 6 (almost), 2, and 2. I got that terminology from a friend at Church who also has a pair of bigs and a pair of littles. Though her littles aren't so little anymore.

Britt

Also known as #IndianaBritt because of his love for the hero of the movies, and his propensity for losing a very similar hat over the years, is our oldest. Nearly as tall as me, at 14, he is still a kid at heart. He loves his video games, sword fighting, and time with his twin brothers. He is a natural leader, even when it's not always the direction that you want him leading the rest of the heathens.

  • What part of living in a camper are you most excited about?

    • Britt: I'm excited that we have a chance to go to more church meetings, and that I'll have a tv in my room.

  • What is your favorite thing about having a large family?

    • Britt: Having tons of siblings to play with.

  • What is your favorite part about being homeschooled?

    • Britt: I usually have more free time for my hobbies.

  • If there was something about your life you could change, what would it be?

    • Britt: More video game time.

  • If there was any one thing you could share with our readers, what would it be?

    • Britt: This is hard! For a fact about me: I'm an experienced D&D player. For a tip: If you want a brother, pray for plural.

Ruth

Also known as #OurSunshineGirl because of how her sunny disposition lights up the entire house, is our first daughter. With an innate sense of what is wrong and right, she is the justice in our house. She loves creating art, chatting with her cousin on the iPad, and time alone. She is a natural little momma, and is responsible beyond her 12 years.

  • What part of living in a camper are you most excited about?

    • Ruth: Either traveling to see old friends we haven't seen in a while, or all the places and environments we'll get to see.

  • What is your favorite thing about having a large family?

    • Ruth: When we team up to do really big things. They turn out really stupid or really cool.

  • What is your favorite part about being homeschooled?

    • Ruth: Being able to work in my bed while wearing pajamas.

  • If there was something about your life you could change, what would it be?

    • Ruth: Being more a part of some type of group, not sports or anything, just to hang out and have fun.

  • If there was any one thing you could share with our readers, what would it be?

    • Ruth: Hammocks are really fun to swing on, especially at night when the stars are out.

Rebecca

Also known as #LittleDanielle because she is so much like I was as a child, is 10. Never at a loss for words, she tells every stranger hi and has a smile for everyone she meets. She loves time on the ipad, going places, and stuffed animals. With her, what you see is what you get, and she can seldom keep any thoughts to herself.

  • What part of living in a camper are you most excited about?

    • Rebecca: We get to move around, see family, and stay at places longer than we could otherwise.

  • What is your favorite thing about having a large family?

    • Rebecca: There is always someone to split up the chores. One person doesn't have to do all of them.

  • What is your favorite part about being homeschooled?

    • Rebecca: We get to stay at home.

  • If there was something about your life you could change, what would it be?

    • Rebecca: I wish we had more money, so we could buy a camper and travel a lot; but, keep a normal house for sometimes, when we don't want to be cooped up together.

  • If there was any one thing you could share with our readers, what would it be?

    • Rebecca: One big problem for me is that I have a lot of siblings, and being in the same room in the camper is going to be difficult sometimes.

Katherine

Also known as #MyLittleFox because of her master manipulative skills, is our youngest daughter. With an keen ability to scheme and plan at only 6 years old (next week), she has a knack for convincing almost anyone to do anything. She loves watching tv with her bunny, playing with kinetic sand and play dough, and spending time with her Memaw. She is quite unlike our other kids, and a wild card that we never know what to expect from.

  • What part of living in a camper are you most excited about?

    • Katherine: Camping at places.

  • What is your favorite thing about having a large family?

    • Katherine: So I can play with my brother and sisters, and the twins.

  • What is your favorite part about being homeschooled?

    • Katherine: Because I can stay home, cause I like being home and I love Momma.

  • If there was something about your life you could change, what would it be?

    • Katherine: I would pick to get to hold my bunny in my bed. I really want Poppy to sleep with me.

  • If there was any one thing you could share with our readers, what would it be?

    • Katherine: Maybe that when it's your birthday, you should get a present.

William

Also known as #TheLittleEngineer because of his uncanny ability to dismantle or figure out the workings of anything he sees, is the oldest of the twins by 90 seconds. He has a laid back personality, and an infectious smile, but watch that temper when he gets mad. He loves watching Coco Melon if he can snuggle with a sibling, playing with his hot wheels cars, and spending time outside. At 2, he is a joy and a terror, and can wreck havoc with the best of them, while teamed up with his twin.

Jonathan

Also known as #MischiefintheMaking because of his uncanny ability to destroy anything while creating sheer pandemonium, is our youngest child. He is always on the go, and has a smile that seems to say he is up to no good, and a temper when he doesn't get his way. He loves chasing and playing keep away with his siblings, playing with balls, and spending time outside. At 2, he is a strong little thing, and can wreck havoc with the best of them, especially while teamed up with his twin.
